Project - Theatre Move It

Pro-Excel - Theatre Move ItThis project unites young people of different ages, from different backgrounds and of both gender and gives them the opportunity to create a superb theatre show in a high profile presentation that is showcased at a theatre.

The project begins with an audition event that identifies young people with potential, positive attitude or outstanding talent in performing arts. From this process the overall number of performers are selected.

Once selected the participants will take part in a 30 hours of workshops over a five-day period in a school holiday (or after school over 2 weeks) at a central venue. The workshops work to unite the group and develop strong common goals and build teamwork. The participants will learn about the importance of warm-up and most importantly will participate in workshops and master-classes in vocals, dance and drama. The week is structured to identify and nurture talent, also to harness skills of writing and production. Roles exist for students with varying levels of skill and experience, thus widening the scope for participation whilst generating a united culture of success.

Pro-Excel - Theatre Move ItA unique feature to this project is the ability to fuse a Primary and Secondary Project to aid transition, this is achieved by delivering over 2 weeks in holiday time and splitting the show into 2 acts, one performed by Primary pupils, the other by Secondary but keeping the theme. Also the show will be written bespoke to each area., with all music commissioned exclusively, and scripts written exclusively to your area. With this in mind the show can be prescribed to any theme you wish, such as celebrating local heritage, addressing bullying or other social issues, or to celebrate a learning theme or major event.

The project culminates in a final show. This will take the form of a professional theatre production at a local high profile theatre. Pupils will be costumed, work with make up artists and the show will be include industry standard sound and lighting, thus giving the students an industry flavour in a unique and high profile environment, in front of a large live audience and be involved in a professional commercial situation.

Additionally there are 2 media days in the project where up to 25 students each day will work in written and visual media. They will write and issue a formal press release, host a press conference complete with live media and members of the cast. Students will also work on camera, sound, light, script, drama and presenting a fly-on-the-wall video documentary of the project, this can then professionally edited and produced.
